Ethnography Museum / Geneva
Geneva’s Ethnography Museum (MEG) houses some 80,000 objects and 300,000 books, graphics, films and audio documents, representing one of the largest ethnological collections in Switzerland. The substantial stock of components, a collection of several centuries of collector’s activities, is divided into five geographic departments: Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. A highly renowned department for music ethnology is there as well. The permanent exhibition, located in a new annex building, received REIER-made equipment. Besides the numerous colour-coded large display cases, representing the five continents, a 15m-long Central Table houses an impressive assortment of selected exhibits. A shielded area of the musical-ethnological department exhibits audio recordings and films.
